There is one potential drawback to lingerie chests. Because of their narrow and trim design, these space saver chests are not suitable storage spaces for larger items, including bulky garments and the like. However, these space saving chests earn their moniker because these units are suited perfectly to store lighter garments and smaller items ... like lingerie. Of course, lingerie can cost a good deal of money. In the end, lingerie chests are idyllic when it comes to protecting the investment you have made in your most personal garment choices.
Furniture styles are constantly changing due to the whims of society. Even so, there is one type of traditional furniture that has seen very little change over the centuries since so many people enjoy crafting and giving these pieces to loved ones. This is the Dower Chest, better known as a Dowry Chest, Hope Chest or Blanket Chest.
Another option is the sometimes quirky mule chest. The mule chest has no standard set-up, really, but it is often defined by a small square storage area with a door instead of a drawer. This door area can be set in the middle of the piece or in one of the upper corners. This set-up leads to the piece having a few different sized drawers and gives it a bit of an antique or hand-crafted look. Mule chests are usually larger than standard chests and many can work in the living room as well as the bedroom.
